My goals for CAS

Creativity: I will be planning a fundraiser with my service group. I want to achieve the required amount of funding to get the activity going smoothly and be as involved with the process as much as I can. I have also started to take piano lessons outside of school for the purpose of learning an entirely new instrument and trying something new.

Action: I plan on developing my skills in basketball by training regularly throughout the week and possibly on the weekends. I want to make the SAISA basketball team and win the tournament. I'm also considering joining a basketball team outside of school to improve and maintain my skills.

Service: I am involved in a service called Gecko Inc. Our main goal is to host a group of kids from another school and teach them the basics of multiple sports. They don't have the facilities to play these sports and so we're giving them the opportunity to do so. I think being a part of a service group will improve my collaboration skills because we (the service group) have to work together effectively in order to achieve our common goal and also taking part in activities with children of a different age group and background. I will also gain experience in organizing and carrying out activities on a big scale.

My goals for 2013-15

Academic Goals: I want to maintain an average score of 5 in all my classes. That means I need to study more often and stop doing assignments the day before it's due...

I still need to drastically improve on my time management. Setting some time in the afternoon to start and complete my work will be a step towards managing this issue.

Personal Goals: I want to start training for SAISA basketball so I'm prepared when try-outs start next year.

Gecko Inc.

I'm involved in an activity that takes place on Thursday afternoons called Gecko Inc. The purpose of this service is to invite a group of kids from a different school and teach them the basics of a variety of sports. The children's school doesn't have the same facilities as OSC, so this gives them an opportunity to broaden their horizons in terms of sport.

So far, the meetings have consisted of planning the days on which the kids will come over to the school. Fundraising ideas have also been discussed which will enable us to hire coaches to make sure the day runs smoothly. Being part of a group that are working collaboratively to achieve the same goal will give me experience in co-operating with others and teach me the process of managing and executing an activity.
